LEE C. PRENTICE POST #36

History
The Fairmont American Legion Post 36 of Minnesota was chartered 1 October 1920 and named after the first Fairmont resident killed in action in WW1 – Lee C Prentice. Our leadership and membership are strong and we continue to serve veterans, their families and our community.
Cobra 327
On June 18, 2020 Members and volunteers of the Martin County Veterans Memorial Committee installed a restored Bell AH-1 Cobra attack helicopter at the Martin County Veterans Memorial.
The helicopter is famous for saving the lives of many veterans due to it's stealthy design which protected troop transport in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.
After 10 months of restoration, it is now at peace in this restful location in Fairmont Minnesota.

Freedom Rock
Martin County is home to the 9th Freedom Rock in Minnesota. In 2024, Commander Steve Fosness commissioned Ray "Bubba" Sorensen II for the project. Bubba's mission is to spread the message of thanking our Veterans while providing a unique Freedom Rock for all 50 States in America. Learn more about The Freedom Rock and Click the Video Link below.
